Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana (or less ripe if on a low sugar diet)
  • 1 handful of frozen mixed berries
  • 1 handful of frozen blueberries
  • 1 handful of spinach or kale
  • 1 stick of celery, chopped
  • 1 small handful of watercress
  • 1-2 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tsp-1 tbsp nut butter (depending on whether you are working out or want to consume more or fewer calories)… leave out if nut allergies
  • 1-2 inches root turmeric, peeled (easier to peel using a teaspoon) or 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1-2 inches root ginger, peeled (easier to peel using a teaspoon)
  • Pinch of black pepper (this helps with the absorption of the turmeric)
  • 250ml/1 cup plant milk of your choice. See our milk guide here

Optional extras

  • 1 tbsp of vegan protein powder (particularly good if regularly working out or trying to increase calories)
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds, (ideally) soaked overnight and drained
  • Half an avocado
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or a pitted date if extra sweetness is needed

Instructions

  1. Place all of the ingredients straight into the blender and blitz until smooth.
  2. If you need to add a bit more milk then do so a little at a time. Enjoy.

Did you know that V30 is run by a charity?

We create vital resources to help educate everyone – vegan veterans, novices and the v-curious alike – about vegan food, health and nutrition; as well as the plight of farmed animals and the devastating environmental impact of farming.

Through this work we have helped thousands of people discover veganism; but we want to reach millions more! We rely entirely on donations as we don’t get any government funding. If you already support us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you are really making a difference! Please share our details with your friends and loved ones too, as every donation enables us to keep fighting for change.
